The Raults are one of Edmonton's great musical families — putting their indelible stamp on the scene since the '60s. Bassist and singer Ron Rault is a blues and roots legend, playing with the likes of John Lee Hooker and Louisiana Red.
Nowadays, Ron is the band leader of the Front Porch Roots Revue and performs with his brother, Lionel, as The Rault Brothers.
For his part, Lionel hosts a show on CKUA Radio. (You can donate to the station's fall fundraiser online or by calling 1-800-494-2582.) His kids, Michael and Emily, are also gifted musicians. Michael started gigging and recording records in his teens, while Emily used to perform with The Fortrelles and is about to release a single, See the Light, on Dala Records. .
On our 10th episode of Agnes + Sandra's Three-Way, we chat with Ron about his life in music -- including his early days behind the piano, learning to play the blues in a strip club in Vancouver, and performing and recording with the Front Porch Blues Revue. They released their second album, Sugar Cube, in 2015 and are planning a third.
