In this episode, Philip Muz talks about opening a new live music venue in Edmonton ... and what it was like to watch his old space get torn down.
Two years ago, he was forced to shut down The Artery to make way for construction of the Valley Line LRT.
Since then, Muz and his brother Mark been working away on opening The Aviary, in the old Tiffany's Bird Shop at 9314 111 Ave., also known as Norwood Boulevard.
After a few delays -- including parking issues and "permit complications" -- The Aviary is a few months from opening its doors. Renovations are almost finished and the Muzes hopes to raise $25,000 to see them to the finish line.
They're hosting a fundraiser on Sunday, June 18 at another venue -- The Mercury Room, 10575 114 St. -- featuring some of Edmonton's very best: Jay Gilday, Amy van Keeken, Tiff Hall, Motorbike James, Gadjo Collective, Lindsey Walker, WARES, nehiyawak, The Velveteins and Jayden Paz.
